More than likely, you are a male who is looking for free → scholarships for dads ← , and you don't want to become enslaved to a government loan...right?
If I am correct, you will feel honored to know that there are many free scholarship programs and grants out there that are available for us men, but many of you lack the guidance to know where to go and how to attain the scholarship of you're choosing. Fortunately for you, my information that I've personally compiled for you will lead you in the right direction of wherever you're trying to go, my friend! With the great scholarship options available, obtaining even a nursing degree may be easier than you think.
The biggest problem that you may have, as a man, when it comes to getting the education that you desire probably has to do with money, as college bills and loans can be very expensive and taxing on your mental and physical health (in the long run).
However, more than ever in the time's that we live in today; there is an ever-increasing rise in free scholarships for dads! The reason for this is that (1) there are almost twice as many women with degrees than men, (2) college campuses want to see more men in attendance at their college's to even out the "playing field" (ratio) of women to men, and (3) another reason is that more dads are seeking to further their educations thanks to the massive layoffs that have been occurring here in the United States of America.
With the information online today, here are some things that you need to know before you proceed in your scholarship search:
#1: I don't know if you've paid attention to the news lately, but our American government has upped the financial aid available for fathers (which is based on your income) up to an amount of $9,000+ ($9350, to be exact)! These large amounts are available in the forms of Pell grants. However, there are other grants such as the "TEACH" and "SMARTS" grants that will possibly allow you to qualify for an amount of 8 GRAND ($8,000) or more.
Last but not least, you can always go to the financial aid office to see if they have scholarships for dads such as yourself! With these awards, you may have to fill out a FAFSA form, and if you don't know what that is, just GOOGLE it and see what you find!
#2: There are other free scholarships, that you don't have to pay back, such as chess scholarships, skateboarding scholarships, nursing scholarships, military scholarships, scholarships based on your height (how tall or short you are), and ones that are based on any possibly disabilities (like asthma, diabetes, cancer, etc...) that you may have! There are literally thousand's of free scholarship programs out there for the taking (by you), so there's no excuse for you not to get one!
#3: If possible, check with whoever employs you (if you don't own your own business) and see if they are willing to pay for your education as long as you're willing to work at the company!
I've had a friend or two (who's still in college) who's employer basically gave them a "full-ride" (by paying the tuition for free) throughout college, as this looks good not only on your college transcript, but also on your job resume too!
To share a little story with you, back in the fall of 2009, I had to take a co-op class where I worked and went to school at the same time, and at the end of the semester, my professor graded me on my work experience for the previous months! If you talk with your employer, they may be able to help you get some Co-Op (cooperative education) credits while you work for them, and they may also pay for you to attend school to get those credits that you need to get your degree (or certificate). Another reason to look for scholarships for dads, especially if you're working, is that if your company pays for your education, they may even give you a pay raise (pay bump) once you earn a degree (while at the job)!
Moreover, many businesses and companies offer reimbursement plans and other benefits that you may not know about, so be sure to ask around whenever you get a chance to see if they can help you pay off your college!
